Apprentice Focus Group

Your Opinion Matters: Modernization of Apprenticeship Training Standards and Curriculum Standards for Red Seal Skilled Trades in Ontario

Skilled Trades Ontario (STO) has partnered with the Provincial Building Trades Council of Ontario (PBTCO) for a multi-year project with the following objectives:
 
  • Modernize Ontario’s Apprenticeship Training Standards and Curriculum Standards to support the mobility of apprentices;
 
  • Develop and enhance the language and terminology of 14 Standards for 11 Red Seal trades to better reflect diversity, inclusion, and increased accessibility; to support environmental protection; and to address the needs of equity-deserving groups; and
 
  • Develop support materials, new procedures, and establish resources to support the apprenticeship pathway

How you can help

Skilled Trades Ontario's Standards Modernization Team is looking for Trades People to take part in 1.5 hour focus groups sessions where apprentices will be provided with the opportunity to share their personal experiences, feedback, and suggested areas and opportunities for improvement. 
We are looking for Unionized Apprentices and Tradespeople from the following Trades to participate:
  • Construction Boilermaker (428A)
  • General Machinist (429A)
  • Industrial Mechanic Millwright (443A)
  • Instrumentation & Control Technician (447A)
  • Ironworker: Structural &Ornamental (420A)
  • Reinforcing Rodworker (452A)
  • Steamfitter (307A)
  • Brick and Stone Mason (401A)
  • Plumber (306A)
  • Sheet Metal Worker (308A)
  • Tool and Die Maker (430A)
These sessions are completely confidential, and only aggregate information would be shared as the project moves forward.
